The Story
A proud partnership between Mong Coffee Cooperative, Crop to Cup, and Coffeebar.
This coffee comes from a small washing station experimenting with an extended drying protocol, as a way of demonstrating and sharing best practices.
Papua New Guinea’s coffee production is dominated by smallholder farmers in the Western Highlands, where diverse producer formats range from small cooperatives to large estates and washing stations, though fully washed processing remains the standard. While most volume comes from low-quality Grade coffees sold through middlemen, specialty lots emerge from well-managed washing stations and a growing number of organized farmer groups despite cultural and logistical challenges. Recent improvements in traceability and farmer organization have led to higher cup scores and consistency, with some lots now traceable to just one or two families.
