The Story

A proud partnership between Mondul Estate, Crop to Cup, and Coffeebar

Grown on the volcanic slopes of Mount Monduli within the Masai community, this coffee from Mondul Estate showcases a unique yet quintessentially Tanzanian profile. Founded in 1931 and revitalized in 2007, the Estate blends traditional farming with modern, sustainable practices—like using biofuels, recycled compost, and precise water management tools.

Harvested by local Masai staff and seasonal workers from neighboring villages, the estate prioritizes community well-being by providing fair wages, meals, housing, education, and healthcare.

Tanzanian coffee has deep roots, tracing back to the 16th century. While the North has long been home to large estates, recent efforts—including the EU-supported Kilimanjaro Smallholder Revival Project—aim to restore smallholder contributions. In contrast, the South thrives on diverse terroirs and strong co-op networks.
