Bring home $29.00+ per hour!!! **This includes $21.00-$22.00/hr base pay, based on experience, + tips estimated at $7-$10+ per hour.

MUST have secure housing in the Truckee area.

MUST have personal reliable transportation.

MUST be able to work year-round. Seasonal candidates need not apply.

The Assistant Store Manager (ASM) exists to teach, coach and ensure that all Coffeebar Core Values and standards are being upheld and honored by our team. The ASM reports to and is supervised by the Store Manager. The ASM is the SMs strong right hand, together they are in charge of every aspect of operations, including but not limited to: excellent customer service and product quality at all times, demonstration of leadership and good judgment, administering sound personnel and financial management practice to ensure profitability, providing training and development, and ensuring a positive and productive working environment.

The ASM is the store leader on the SMs days off, and should be counted on, being available all members of the Coffeebar team, as needed.

Expected Workload: 40 hours per week, or as busy seasons or holidays demand

Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership and Service

  • Lead by example with hard work, dedication, and accountability while inspiring and developing your team.
  • Provide ongoing day-to-day coaching and regular positive and constructive feedback to your team. Show/explain how and why things can be improved, rather than just telling.
  • Recognize and respond to performance issues, both by coaching the team and keeping the GM informed of issues and progress made. Recognize outstanding team members, provide opportunities for others to step up into leadership roles.
  • Oversee both food and beverage operations to ensure store runs as a cohesive whole.
  • Constantly seek to improve and learn more about coffee, tea, wine, beer, and food, taking responsibility for self-education.
  • Ensure that we positively affect each and every customer so they leave the Coffeebar experience feeling better than when they came in. Communicate Coffeebar service standards to all team members and coach accordingly
  • Work on bar and on the floor to develop relationships with our customers, assist staff during high volume periods, and stay connected to the customer experience.
  • Foster relationships with regulars, learning names and regular drink orders, and emphasize the importance of these personal relationships when training staff.
  • Respond to customer issues with diplomacy and grace. Fix mistakes/remake a drink without hesitation, and do everything you can to ensure every customer leaves satisfied.
  • Provide leadership and employee advocacy for all training and development needs.

Specific Operational Duties

  • Assisting the manager with inventory weekly (Sundays/Mondays)
  • Entering invoices and payouts in RSI.
  • Checking emails and responding accordingly in a timely manner.
  • Being thoroughly familiar with all operations and POS systems and procedures. Know how to troubleshoot in case of emergency.
  • Ensuring proper holding, storage & rotation of all food items by testing and monitoring quality and guarding against waste.
  • Placing product orders with suppliers on appropriate days, assist in checking in and storing product orders, making sure all storage areas are organized. Reviewing, approving and checking prices on all invoices
  • Evaluating shift needs and scheduling staff – fill in when staff member is sick, send people home when slow and you fill in for them. Take text messages and emails on your “off” hours if needed to fix scheduling issues.
  • Delegating responsibilities and making sure delegated tasks were accomplished properly –cleaning tasks when slow
  • Organizing & making daily deposits & change orders, counting the bank
  • Communicating clearly and concisely with team members – Be Direct, yet understanding and supportive. Explain the “whys” in what we do.
  • Keeping accurate HR records – notes on employee behavior in Homebase and in employee file if necessary, new hire paperwork organized properly
  • Checking that all areas of the facility/equipment were properly cleaned by the previous shift and assigning staff to perform any cleaning duties. Holding the shift leads, employees, and yourself accountable so that all daily maintenance and cleaning duties are completed. Attention to detail in this area especially – retail shelves, pastry cases, floors, tables
  • Checking that all staff members arrive on time, in the proper uniform, properly groomed and ready to work. Adjusting punches and reviewing payroll on time.
  • Checking that the kitchen abides to all health code laws
  • Monitoring food appearance by constantly delegating the restocking and re-adjusting the pastries & display tags. Communicate with Baker or staff if there is an issue – explain the whys!
  • Troubleshooting when issues arise. Placing service calls when necessary – see Emergency contact list.
  • Monitoring on an on-going basis potential hazards and store safety and security procedures.
  • Ensuring that all operations and employment matters are in compliance with local, state and Federal laws and safety regulations.
  • Help the manager by working towards goals for sales, COGS, labor and profitability.
